Tackling Tics and Tourette’s, Part 2: Effective Treatments

The Tics, Tourette’s Disorder, and Trichotillomania (T3) program of the Anxiety and Mood Disorders Service at the Child Study Center at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital of New York at NYU Langone is pleased to offer a free, evening program for families affected by tics and Tourette’s, as well as for educators and providers.
Offered as part of a comprehensive series, the second workshop session will provide information about Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tics, the gold standard treatment for tics/Tourette's Disorder, introduce how parents can help children and teens manage the challenges associated with these conditions, and answer common questions about medication.
Youth are encouraged to participate in a support group (held simultaneously with parent/provider workshop) with their peers designed to educate them about tics and Tourette's Disorder and review helpful strategies for managing common behaviors and symptoms.
Support groups will include:
- Information about tics and Tourette’s Disorder
- Getting to know other children and teens with tics and Tourette’s Disorder
- Conversations about daily life with tics and Tourette’s Disorder at home, school, and socially
- Exploring how to cope with and manage tics and Tourette’s Disorder
