Syttende Mai Minnesota banquet in celebration of Norway's Constitution Day
About this event
Join us for our 40th anniversary Syttende Mai Minnesota banquet on Tues, May 17! You won't want to miss this unique opportunity to hear from two highly acclaimed Norwegian film talents, Veslemøy Ruud Zwart and Harald Zwart!
Together, they have directed and produced several well-known feature films in the United States and in Norway: The Twelfth Man [Den Tolvte Mann] (2017), Agent Cody Banks (2003), and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013). Individually, Harald Zwart has also directed The Karate Kid (2010), One Night at McCool’s (2001), and Hamilton (1998).
Harald is also known for directing music videos, anime films, and commercials. He directed music videos for the Norwegian band A-ha, for the songs "Velvet" and "Forever Not Yours" and the music video for A-ha vocalist Morten Harket's solo release song "Brother." He is attached to a Sony Pictures Animation's live-action/CG feature film based on the video game series RollerCoaster Tycoon, and as a director to Universal Pictures' Bakugan, a feature film based on the strategic game and anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers.
Harald and Veslemøy are joining us hot on the heels of their newest film release, Long Flat Balls 3 [Lange Flate Ballær 3] (2022)--the latest sequel to their smash hit Norwegian comedy films about soccer fans from Fredrikstad. These movies are often described as the Norwegian Full Monty with more laughs. This latest film will be shown in this year's Minneapolis Film Festival (mspfilm.org) on May 15.
Veslemøy hails from Sarpsborg, Norway. Harald was born in the Netherlands and spent most of his childhood in Fredrikstad, Norway. They have two children and have lived in the Los Angeles area for the past 24 years.
