This panel will include medical experts Dr. Cheryl Holder and Dr. Bernard Ashby.
Dr. Cheryl Holder is board certified in Internal Medicine and has dedicated her medical career to serving underserved populations. Dr. Holder, a strong social justice advocate, is the Interim Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Community Initiatives at Florida International University. Her op-eds on health disparities have appeared in the Miami Herald.
Dr. Bernard Ashby is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, vascular medicine, vascular interpretation, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Ashby is an Associate Professor at Florida International University and has appeared on MSNBC to discuss the failures of our federal and Florida state leadership to control the COVID pandemic and mitigate its disastrous effect on Black and Brown communities.
They will discuss how systemic racism impacts our health disparities and access.
Barry University’s Dr. Pamela D. Hall, Associate Professor of Psychology, College of Arts and Sciences’ Associate Dean and Director of the Africana Studies Program, will moderate the event.
