Event description
An exciting evening of food, drink, music and generosity, in a bid to raise funds for local refugee families and the global refugee crisis.

About this Event

The Tewkesbury Refugee Support Group are delighted to announce that we will be hosting an extraordinary charity event…

What are we doing?

We’re hosting a charity event. Actually, we’re hosting the charity event. Open to all ages and filled with exciting entertainment, we can promise you this: you won’t leave disappointed.

Welcome prosecco will naturally be provided – after all, you’re going to need something to complement the canapés. This is followed by an eclectic banquet, which will boast a buffet-style fusion of Syrian and Middle-Eastern cuisine. Later on, caffeine lovers are invited to knock back our velvety range of Arabic coffee served with Baklava.

The evening’s proceedings will begin with a short introductory film setting out our aims. There will also be two live music performers: Arabic singer, Soufian Saihi, on the Oud; and Siegfried Translator spinning Middle-Eastern vinyl sounds. Of course, a licensed bar will be present at all times. Here, you have the opportunity to purchase from the event exhibition - a range of impressive artworks created and donated for the cause.

As for the more traditional fundraising proceedings, don’t worry, there’s plenty of that too. If our deluxe raffle in partnership with Tewkesbury Food Bank doesn’t cut it for you, our Silent Auction certainly will! Expect a bundle of sensational prizes worth over a thousand pounds – including week-long accommodation for 8 in a private French villa, a fully-staffed private dinner party, romantic meals for two, a family photography session – and much more!

Why are we doing it?

We’re doing all this because we want to get some funds together to help our Syrian friends. The international refugee situation has been in a state of emergency for years and this crisis shows no sign of stopping. It’s difficult to be positive about this atrocious situation but even if we can help in a small way, its important to do our bit – that’s where you come in!

By purchasing a ticket you will be donating towards a number of charities who are pulling out the stops to tackle this problem, including Refuge Egypt and Samara’s Aid. However, its also important to remember that we have refugees struggling to make ends meet right on our doorsteps. As such, we will also be fundraising for refugees in our local area to help them stay on their feet. Any contributions you can make – however small – can help with vital things that many of us take for granted, such as heating bills, school trip funding, employment assistance (i.e. driving licenses so parents can drive to work and support their families), and school uniforms.

There will be plenty of information available at the event to learn more about local community groups and efforts, what can be done to help refugee families currently residing in Gloucestershire, and where your donated money will be going.

If you have any dietary requirements or queries about the event please contact us via trsgevents@outlook.com. This is a family friendly event, children 14 and under go free.

We can’t wait to see you there!
