IU Alum Bus Trip FlyerCome join the Illustrious Sisters of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as we embark upon a 4-bus journey from New York and New Jersey locations to the amazing destination, the National Museum of African-American History and Culture

Follow the journey:

  1. Bus #1 will depart from Newburgh, New York  
  2. Bus #2 will depart from Harlem, New York  
  3. Bus #3 will depart from Elizabeth, New Jersey, stop at Westampton, New Jersey and stop at Swedesboro, New Jersey 
  4. Bus #4 will depart from Mays Landing, New Jersey and stop at Sicklerville, New Jersey

$30 ticket to support the fundraiser allows you to partake in the 4 hour alloted tour with the group in addition to dinner.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Bus #1: Bus leaves from the Newburgh Mall McDonald's 

Bus #2: Bus leaves at the Harlem State Office Building on 125th Street 

Bus #3: Bus leaves from the North Elizabeth Train Station, Pennsylvania Avenue by the New Jersey Transit North Elizabeth Train stop. Then, stop at the Burlington Center Mall in Westampton, NJ, lower level, near the Sear's. 

Bus #4: Bus leaves at the Mays Landing Hamilton Mall at Sear's, 2nd level at the back of the Mall. Then, stop at the Avandale, NJ Transit Bus location in Sicklerville. 

 

What time is the group's tour?

Our tour is scheduled for 1:00pm. We have alloted four (4) hours for guests to enjoy the tour on their own. There are seven floors so it will be impossible to see everything in one visit. 

 

What can I bring into the event?

We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes. We will not be responsible for lost items. Expect to pass through a security screening. Avoid bringing large bags to get through security screens faster. NO food or beverages are permitted to enter the museum.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable. However, they are transferrable. 

 

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No; we will maintain a list of paid attendees. Only those who have PAID IN FULL via the Paypal account will be permitted to board the buses. Payments can be made at www.Paypal.me/mwdavis6 

 

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, if you cannot attend for some reason, the tickets are transferrable. You must notify the organizers in advance. You can purchase tickets as a gift for family or friends to share this historic experience with you.

 

Is the museum wheelchair accessible? 

Wheelchairs are limited and distributed on a first come first served basis.  Please plan to bring your own if possible. The handicap accessible entrance to the Museum is located on the Constitution Ave side of the building.

 

How can I enhance my tour experience?

Is there food or shopping at the museum?

There are keepsakes and gifts available at their Museum Shop and a variety of food choices at their Sweet Home Cafe. Expect long lines at both.

Members of Syracuse University's Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The group has been hosting a series of fundraising events to support its Endowment Scholarship Fund at Syracuse University to assist African-American and Latina women to obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees. This endowment is their living legacy. It is a tangible outcome of the altruistic vision of their sorority's founders.
