
Synthesis of Science and Spirituality for Peace and Harmony Conference 2018

Science and spirituality are like two streams of the creative human mind. Given the importance of integrating the science and spiritual paradigms for the betterment of humanity, this conference seeks to promote the interface of both science and spirituality from an inter-faith perspective and inspire and engage the younger generation in this important dialogue for peace and harmony. Therefore, the conference will involve participation from educational institutions and faith organisations in Singapore as well as those from other ASEAN member nations. Besides seminar sessions with distinguished speakers and multi-cultural performances, the conference will feature presentations by winners of a regional essay competition based on the theme of the conference. The conference will be held at the RELC Auditorium in Singapore on September 22, 2018 from 0830 to 1245.
Professor Amit Goswami, a renowned Theoretical Quantum Physicist from the Centre of Quantum Activism, Oregon, as well as a retired professor of theoretical physics at the University of Oregon will be giving a video keynote speaker at this conference. Prof. Goswami is well known for his works on the interface of science and spirituality, particularly in the field of quantum theory and consciousness. As part of the conference, there will be a roundtable discussion for speakers and youth leaders of various faith organisations and educational institutions with Prof. Goswami.
The following activities have been organised as part of the conference:
- A video keynote speech by a distinguised speaker on the synthesis of science and spirituality (Professor Amit Goswami, Quantum Physicist & Director, Center for Quantum Activism, Oregon, U.S.A.)
- Seminar sessions given by leaders of various faiths on the subject of Science and Spirituality followed by a question and answer panel discussion. Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faith speakers will be presenting their perspectives on the synthesis of science and spirituality for peace and harmony.
- A regional Synthesis of Science and Spirituality Essay Competition, where the top five entries will be presenting their argument at the conference. The five finalists are from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
- The launch of a compendium of the top 10-20 winning essays.
- A roundtable discussion with the esteemed speakers for selected participants, and youth leaders of faith organisations and educational institutions (by invitation only).
