Synergy: Women Creativity and Peacebuilding will help faculty, students and community members learn how the creative arts are instrumental in conflict prevention and post-violence measures.

Featured speakers are Cynthia Cohen, Director of Program in Peacebuilding and the Arts at Brandeis University and Jennifer Freeman, Director of the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice's Women Peacemakers Program at the University of San Diego. They will share their global expertise and describe how they integrate creative arts into projects for restoring peace and justice in deeply divided communities.
Transforming Violent Conflict Using the Creative Arts workshop: Friday, November 22nd 8:30am - Gerhardinger Center 109
Dr. Cohen will lead a hands on workshop where participants will explore the contributions of cultural work and the arts to the creative transformation of conflict. They will examine tensions and paradoxes that arose in the groundbreaking project "Acting Together on the World Stage" including how to balance socio-political and aesthetic imperatives, justice and healing, memory and imagination.
