Event description

Description

The start of the new year is an excellent opportunity to pause and reflect on where you were last year and where you want and don’t want to go in the coming year.

It’s not about regret and resentment. It’s not about self bashing for not reaching last year’s unattainable New Year’s resolutions. It’s not about setting more unrealistic goals for 2019.

It’s about the healing power of self-forgiveness, acceptance, gratitude and relentless perseverance. It about pulling weeds and planting seeds. It’s about the clarity that taking baby steps can result in profound changes to your thinking and acting.

Enjoy time to ponder and contemplate and the freedom to be creative and gently explore some thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

We’ll have time for meditation, music and group sharing. One on one coaching will close the event.

“I don’t know what to write. I don’t journal.” Not to worry. I’ll have prompts to get you started.

“I’ve been journaling for years. I love it,” Not to worry. There will be plenty of time for freedom of creativity and expression.

//////

Bring your own journal or use a Field Notes book that will be given out at class. Bring a favorite pen or use one from the class. Bring a friend. Bring your mom. Random drawings are encouraged. Colored pencils will be provided. Color outside the lines or color inside the lines — it’s your choice. There are no rules.

FAQs from Joan

What does Synchronicity of Self mean?

I'm excited that the title will mean differnt things to different people. I encourage you to let it mean whatever positive thing that comes to your mind. #becurious #beopenminded

To me, it's about discovering and accepting yourself with all your imperfections. It's an ever changing continium. On one end of the specturm you can be a doormat, a martyr and get walked all over - forgetting your true self, dimming your light to please others. You are not alone. We all do that.

On the other end of the spectrum you can be arrogant, self centered and narrististic. This is a normal response after being walked on. But you are not comfortable there. You know it's not who you really are.

In the middle range you embrace your light and dark sides. You stand tall and don't apologize for living by your identified core values. It's about balance. I can help you get to the middle ground in the complex world of self.

Who should attend?

I’m looking for inquisitors. People who hunger for the as yet undefined “something more.” People who are never satisfied. Wanderers. Smart people with quick wits. Happy people. People who need people and at times hate people. Givers. Dreamers. Lost souls. Loners. People pleasers. Courageous go-getters. Timid seekers. Those who look for and find awe and wonder in every day life. Introverted Extroverts and Extroverted Introverts.

What should I bring with me?

An open mind. A journal and pen. An overdue belly laugh. A compassionate smile. A friend.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There are train stops and bus stops within walking distance.

What's the refund policy?

There are no refunds, but you may transfer your ticket to a friend or family member in the event you cannot attend. Alternatively, you can use your ticket for another upcoming workshop in this series at the Dragon Theater at a later date.
