Symposium on Pope Francis's Vision for the Renewal of the Church
The Franciscan Institute for Ecclesial Renewal
The Henkel's Family Foundation
November 10-12, 2016
Pope Francis, like St. Francis in the thirteenth century, has a vision for the Church, rooted firmly in and blossoming from the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a vision that exudes the joy of the Gospel, having that magnetic power to attract others to Christ and the Church. It is a vision that, like that of St. Francis, embraces the poor and those on the 'margins,' including those in the Church who struggle with brokenness in their lives, marriages, and families. It is a vision, like St. Francis's, that glories in God's creation, and calls all to responsibility for preserving its beauty and integrity now and for future generations. And, like Jesus and his servant Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis also makes us uncomfortable at times, challenging us, and the world, to re-evaluate our presuppositions and practices in light of the Gospel.
Symposium registration will include admission to Archbishop Chaput's talk.
General Registration includes free admission to all concurrent and plenary sessions and includes a continental breakfast Saturday morning. All other meals can be taken at the registrant's discretion on or off campus. Please note the concurrent sessions will have limited seating.
