Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Learn and create artworks together at an artist’s studio! Led by Syma, a ceramic artist and museum educator, these hour-long, multi-generational, SINGLE-SESSION, Sunday afternoon workshops are a unique and memorable experience for kids ages 5 and up and their adult companions.

Intimate semi-private sessions (maximum 5 people) ensure individualized attention, while Syma’s hands-on activities spark creativity and excitement for all ages. Unlike other art classes, participants in these workshops will be encouraged to think like artists, using the workshop time for experimentation with, and exploration of, themes, materials, and techniques. Recent activities have included fantasy animals from air dry clay; small woven pouches; simple print-making; and paper clay with gold foil wearable jewelry.

"MudPies R The Answer !"

Note: This is NOT a drop-off program. Each family group must include at least one adult.

Also Note: A minimum of 4 participants is required to hold the class. Should the total registration fail to meet this limit by the Friday evening prior to the class, you will be notified and provided with the option to reschedule or to receive your payment refunded in full.

Who/what is included in the price listed?

The $25. price listed is for EACH PARTICIPANT in your family, and includes materials.

Is there a "sibbling discount"?

We offer a $5. cash back rebate for any family that comes with more than two members.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Recommended ages: 5-85.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

On-street parking is available in this neighborhood on Sundays.

By subway, take the F/G train to Smith/9th Street stop and walk or take the B61 bus to the corner of Lorraine St and Court Street.

By bus, take either the B57 or the B61 to Lorraine Street and the corner of either Court St or Clinton St (depending on which direction you are coming from).

Please scroll down to see the map app and travel details.

How do I enter the TiArt Studio Building since it is not open to the public, and there is no door buzzer?

Syma will meet you at the street door, 5-10 minutes before the workshop is scheduled to start. You will receive her cell phone number after your registration is confirmed, so that you can phone if you are delayed.

Are there other artists teaching in their studios?

There are more than 100 arists who have studios on the third floor of our building. Many of them will be working in their studios and a few may be teaching at the time of our workshops. We will be careful not to disturb their working.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Please bring an apron or wear 'art-studio-clothes'. There is a place to change clothes in our building.

Space and fragility of Syma's artworks in the studio make it not possible for you to bring dogs or extra, non-registered, younger children...

Bottled water is fine, but please plan to snack before or after our workshop.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please use the CONTACT form on eventbrite.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, if you let us know of the change. Please note that each family must have at least one participating adult.

What is the refund policy?

In the event that the minimum number (4) have not registered by the Friday evening before the event, the event will be cancelled. You will then have the choice of re-scheduling, or getting a full refund.

We are not able to offer make-up sessions or to offer refunds for your cancellations, BUT If you cancel, and your place(es) can be filled from our waitlist, your money will be refunded.

When will I be able to take my artwork home?

The artwork that you and your family members make will go home with you the same day as our workshop.

Why have you written that "MudPies R The Answer !"?

When children play and create MudPies, there is a joyful, focusing of attention and an intention to experiment and explore possibilities. At any age, when we mindfully approach our art-making as an exploration of process, rather than a product, we touch the potential to step away from our everyday chattering-mindset and experience being in a flow of active meditation....
