Event description

Description

Susannah Haarmann, PT, WCS, CLT is returning to Australia to present 'Rehabilitation for the Breast Cancer Patient' at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. This 2-day course is designed for medical practitioners (physicians, therapists, nurses and lymphoedema therapists) who value incorporating rehabilitation into comprehensive breast cancer care to prevent and limit the side effects of treatment. This evidence based course includes theoretical and practical content and aims to improve attendees application of commonly used oncological tests and measures, advance manual skills, and sample applied rehabilitation exercises in the forms of yoga and Pilates based programs. Topics include diagnosis and medical management for breast cancer, side effects of treatment such as shoulder dysfunction, core compromise, lymphatic cording, post-mastectomy pain syndrome, cardiotoxity, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, fatigue, osteoporosis and dyspareunia. The lymphoedema portion of this course will be a great review for the lymphoedema therapist and to train novice practitioners to assess and treat stage 0 and 1 lymphoedema to prevent irreversible limb changes.

Please visit the courses section of Your Core PT's website and sign up for the Newsletter for upcoming announcements.
