Description

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Eugene Civic Alliance
and the Technology Association of Oregon are excited to offer a different kind of Lunch & Learn event for the Southern Willamette Valley region on Wednesday, September 12th from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Formatted more like a conversation than a presentation, you’ll have an opportunity to hear about the Civic Park project, and share your ideas for maximizing its potential.

Civic Park will host a wide range of sporting events for all ages. But Civic Park represents more than just a sports and recreation center. It has the potential to reshape our community’s health and fitness habits by harnessing the latest technology and health trends. Eugene is known for producing top-tier athletes. Civic Park can establish Eugene as a city that plays.

Through the design process, we’ve done our best to give Civic Park the essential features it needs to serve our community. But we know it can do so much more. With this in mind, we invite you to attend our Lunch and Learn event and bring your ideas for incorporating technology into Civic Park. Whether it’s an app to improve the game-day fan experience, using AR to help Kidsports athletes improve their skills, or suggestions for ways to streamline facility operations, we want to hear your ideas for ways we can make Civic Park a model facility for sports and technology.

MODERATOR
Bev Smith - Executive Director - Kidsports
Bev is the Executive Director of Kidsports, a non-profit organization that gives more than 14,000 local children the opportunity to play seven-core team sports throughout the year. Bev was a student athlete at the University of Oregon from 1978-1982 and was the head women’s basketball coach from 2001-2009. Jordan Kent Jordan Kent is the director of Jordan Kent Skills Camps and works as a sports news broadcaster for Comcast Sportsnet NW. The Kent Skills Camps is a summer program that provides children of any background and ability the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of sports, including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and general speed and agility. Kent was a three-sport athlete at the University of Oregon – in football, basketball, and track. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks and played wide receiver for three seasons in the NFL. Bev and Jordan are both members of the Eugene Civic Alliance Board of Directors.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
All members of the technology community are welcome. We invite TAO members who are interested in sharing their expertise to help us develop a vision for how technology can be integrated into Civic Park. This integration will help us achieve our goal of improving the health of our children and our community through Civic Park. We also welcome anyone interested in learning about the project as a whole and how it will serve Kidsports, adult recreational leagues, and our community through innovative programs and events held at Civic Park.
