For every birdie Nicole Jeray makes on the LPGA/LPGA Futures tours this year, money will be donated to Narcolepsy Network and Wake Up Narcolepsy to help improve awareness and funding for narcolepsy. In 2012 Nicole made 121 birdies and raised more than $37,500.
Narcolepsy is a medical disorder that impacts approximately 1 in 2,000 people in the United States, including Nicole. Many people are unaware of the condition and go undiagnosed. The disease is a sleep disorder, involving irregular patterns in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep and significant disruptions of the normal sleep/wake cycle. While the cause of narcolepsy is not completely understood, current research points to a combination of genetic and environmental factors that influence the immune system.
Narcolepsy Network is a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing early diagnosis of narcolepsy, advocating for and supporting persons with narcolepsy and their families, and promoting critical research for treatment and a cure.
