CATHY PONTON KING Specializes in Blues and Swing, Rock & Roll, and her own rhythm and blues compositions. She learned the music from Muddy Waters and Albert Collins, Willie Dixon and Bo Diddley, among others. Straight from the source! She was born in Washington, DC and learned Irish music from her family, but at 10 years old she took up the guitar and all kinds of music. Cathy plays Telecaster guitar and sings with passion. She opened shows and/or jammed with KoKo Taylor, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Marcia Ball, Sonny Landreth, Earl King, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Delbert McClinton, Bobby Parker, Willie Dixon, Johnny Winter, Sarah Dash, Arlen Roth, Jimmy Witherspoon, Son Seals, Memphis Gold, Kim Wilson's Thunderbirds, Coco Montoya, and many more -- a LIFETIME of Blues concerts! Her latest CD, "The Crux," features two of the most revered and well known blues guitarists in the world: Ronnie Earl and Jimmy Thackery. She has three other CDs available on CDBaby.com. All the albums are Cathy's original blues, swing, rock and ballads and also the songs of her husband, who produced all four CDs and wrote several songs as well.
