In July 2016, the Department of Labor awarded the City of Phoenix the Strengthening Working Families Initiative (SWFI) grant. SWFI is designed to help low-to-middle skilled parents access the affordable, quality child care they need to earn an education, participate in training programs and ultimately compete for better paying jobs in emerging industries. The training programs available are Insurance Careers Training, Network Administrator, Computer Support Technician, Cybersecurity, Nursing Assistant and Medical Assistant.

Grant Criteria for Eligibility: Be 17 or older - Have a high school diploma or GED - Have childcare responsiblities for at least one dependent who is 13 years of age or younger or who has a dissability or developmental delay - Be legally authorized to work in the US.

Eligibility Forms: Proof of Citizenship or Right to Work -- Social Security Card -- Age Verfication --Dependents Age/Status Verfication -- Selective Service Status -- Verification of Secondary School Completion --Proof of Income (if applicable) for the last 6 months.
