“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life happen to you, and that you will work with these stories…water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estes
With this workshop series, I’m bringing together two of the things I love most in this life. Being a counselor, guide and teacher is my nature and my heart. Now I’m marrying it to my love of nurturing people through the art of baking and dessert making.
Join me for a monthly workshop series where I get the pleasure of nurturing you with delicious and healthy versions of dessert. While we indulge in the love and communion of sharing sweets together, we’ll also write and tell our stories.
Sharing the personal narratives of our lives provides an avenue of healing, individually and in community. We’ll explore our stories through writing, sharing, and exercises that will lead us to insights and awareness. We’ll mine our stories for their messages and meaning, and for the patterns and legacies they illuminate. We’ll document our stories and practice the art of storytelling in order to revive this lost ritual in our communities. We’ll celebrate, we’ll mourn, we’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll witness and be witnessed, and most of all we will bring ourselves and others back to Life!
We will touch on a different area of our lives each month, anything from birth to our first loves, to our families of origin, to having kids, or any of the myriad of life experiences we have all had up to our present moment is up for exploring. During the workshops, we may go deeply into subject matter that has impacted us while uncovering connections and exploring emotions we've held. Its a profound opportunity to get deeply connected with yourself and others.
For the month of October, we'll be exploring and sharing stories of our dreams come true.
Its time to remember our own magic. We have all had some dream come true in our lives, whether big or small. When we recount that memory, we feel the quality of magic and miracles. This brings this quality and energy back into our lives helping us to create and be receptive to more magic and miracles. Come share in the ritual of story in a loving and uplifting community.
During the workshop I’ll serve up delicious and health conscious desserts, always gluten-free, made with organic ingredients, and free of refined sweeteners. Most times there will be a vegan option available as well. We’ll enjoy some wine, a cocktail or coffee/tea with our sweets while we create community and share our stories.
As a note, please allow some flexibility with ending times. Best efforts will be made to end on time but sometimes healing has its own schedule.
There is an African proverb that states ‘you cannot heal what you conceal’. Let’s begin to heal by bringing our private stories to the light.
