About this Event

Swallow Hill Music will celebrate its induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame with a 40th Anniversary concert featuring a reunion of The Mother Folkers at the Central Presbyterian Church in Denver on Saturday, November 9 at 6:30 p.m.

"Swallow Hill Music started with Harry Tuft's commitment to build community around music, and forty years later we have an amazing community that attends classes and comes to concerts. In addition to that, we're bringing music education and experiences to those across our community who wouldn't have the opportunity otherwise. We are honored and thrilled to join the musical legends enshrined in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame," Swallow Hill's CEO Paul Lhevine said.

With more than 177,000 musical connections made each year, Swallow Hill Music brings a new energy to the Denver metro area with programming that builds a community of music listeners and learners that are connecting to music in fresh and innovative ways.

And that is reason to celebrate.

The evening will begin with an induction ceremony bringing Swallow Hill Music and The Mother Folkers into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame presented by Comfort Dental. CMHOF Director Chris Daniels will also induct Colorado folk music mainstays Dick Weissman and Walt Conley. Conley died in 2003.

"The inspiring story of The Mother Folkers has a lot in common with Swallow Hill's - the band created a space for itself and prospered. In doing so they showed future generations of artists how to build an audience through performance." Swallow Hill's Director of Concerts Roger Menell said.

"Featuring the Mother Folkers at our 40th Anniversary celebration and Colorado Music Hall of Fame induction makes perfect sense," he added. "The full blown Mother Folkers reunion happening on 11/9 could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the group in all its glory!"

The Mother Folkers

Website

The Mother Folkers, or MoFos, began in 1973, when several women musicians realized they all had followings, and that by combining to perform a show, they might be able to have fun playing music to larger audiences. A Mother Folker concert will feature a few songs with everyone on stage; most of the show is a dynamic and evolving combination of performers and musical styles. Suitable for all ages, there is truly something for everyone in shows that bring audiences to their feet. Superb musicianship, tight vocal harmonies, humor, and powerful original songs make for an evening of complete entertainment.
