Join the OSA Land Steward team at our newest property, Leung, off of HWY 152 in the southern part of Santa Clara County. We'll be doing a debris/trash clean-up; one of the first steps in restoring the ecosystem and clearing hazards for wildlife. Leung is an important part of the agricultural legacy of the Santa Clara Valley, and wildlife migration corridors around the Pajaro River. Some of the cool critters seen there so far include burrowing owls and a bobcat family - this is an amazing opportunity to work on new open space that few people have experienced!
The Leung Property is not yet open to the public and not on any maps. Registrants will be emailed detailed parking and driving directions.
The Open Space Authority provides all the necessary tools, safety equipment, and training for the day, as well as water, coffee, and lunch (sandwiches, chips, and fruit). Please let us know what type of sandwich you prefer (turkey, vegetarian with cheese, or vegan) or if you are bringing your own lunch.
The dress code for safety and comfort is sturdy close-toed shoes, longs pants (no shorts, sweats, or tights), and layers for your upper body. We'll work through a light rain but severe weather cancels the event.
Youth volunteers (Aged 14-17) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during the Land Steward work. Volunteers under the age of 14 can not be accomodated.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and those aged 14-17 MUST have a parent or legal guardian present during the entire Land Steward activity. Volunteers under the age of 14 can not be accomodated.
