Event Details

Building collaborations between K-12 schools and higher education can be complicated and overwhelming, but extremely important in providing both college and K-12 students with opportunities for engagement and growth. This webinar will highlight the 10-year collaboration "Community Builders: Fostering Intergenerational Civic Engagement," based at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Collaborating partners include Wartburg College, St. Paul's Elementary School, and the Waverly-Shell Rock School District. Wartburg College recently received a MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship for the Community Builders program, one of only two U.S. colleges and universities to be so recognized.

Highlights of the discussion between participants and facilitator include:

  • Elements to establish a collaborative relationship
  • Laying the groundwork for developing a collaborative project
  • The importance of reciprocity and how to assure shared ownership
  • Maintaining a collaboration over time
  • Opportunity for question and answers and to hear what others are doing
