Event description

Description

You're invited!

Please join us on Sunday September 15 from 3:30pm-6pm for Sustainable Lafayette's Fourth Annual Sustainable Sunday event. This year's theme is "Think Global, Act Local."

Sustainable Sunday will feature local appetizers, beverages, live music and speakers who will provide 10-15 minute “Ted Talks” about sustainable living. Speakers include: Larry Goldzband, Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission; Wilma Wallace, REI General Counsel and former Chief Sustainability Officer for Gap Inc.; Erica Welton, Founder and Owner of the Organic Coup, and Jim Coyle, LEED Accredited Professional and Construction Manager at Equity Community Builders.

In previous years, donations from our fundraising event allowed us to hire our first part-time paid staff member to focus on community outreach. This year's goal is to raise $15,000 to preserve our operating capital and expand our youth engagement programs.

About Sustainable Lafayette: Sustainable Lafayette inspires Lafayette residents to take action on a personal and local level to make our community healthier. Since 2007, our dedicated Board members and part-time staff have educated residents on why sustainability matters, provided opportunities to make a local difference, and supported kids in environmental activism. Our fun community engagement activities include: organizing an annual Earth Day festival; hosting a popular environmental film series; enrolling residents and businesses in MCE's Deep Green program that uses only wind and solar energy; and sharing sustainable food practices by sponsoring our partners at the Urban Farmers and the Lafayette Community Garden. We also raise visibility of youth-led community improvement projects and provide competitive awards to Lafayette kids to support actions like planting butterfly gardens, holding trash cleanups, decreasing single-use plastics at schools, and teaching adults to stop idling cars around town. We believe that all Lafayette residents can make a difference by taking local, sustainable action that will help our community and our planet.

We thank you for your continued support!

P.S. If you would prefer to buy tickets with a check or cash, we can make that happen. Email carrie@sustainablelafayette.org and I'll let you know where to send or drop off the check:)
