Description

Promises and Perils of Water Quality Trading

Across North America, water quality trading programs have emerged as market mechanisms for controlling nutrient pollution of waterways. Such programs establish markets in which those generating water pollutants may purchase credits from those enacting certain pollution mitigation measures as a more cost-effective means of complying with legal obligations for pollution control.

Join the Sustainable Phosphorus Alliance for this 90-minute webinar on the topic. Panelists Victoria Pebbles, Program Director of the Great Lakes Commission, and Doug Myers, Senior Scientist at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, will join us for a discussion of what water quality trading programs are, how they operate, their promise for mitigating phosphorus pollution of our waterways, and common obstacles to their implementation and success.

Each panelist will present an overview of an existing water quality trading program and time will be provided for audience Q & A. The webinar will be hosted on the Zoom webinar platform (no software installation required), and log in details will be provided after registration.

Please register only if you are sure to attend. Space is limited by the platform, and others may be prevented from attending.
