Sustainable Palm Oil Study Tour

Thailand, November 7 to 9, 2019

Organised by Wild Asia

Wild Asia's Sustainable Palm Oil Study Tour is a great opportunity to learn more about the challenges and opportunities for sustainable palm oil production - from the perspective of the larger companies and the efforts of smaller producers. We hope to build a closer connection between the palm oil-based industry and growers on the ground. It is our way to improve the palm oil value chain for small producers.

The study tour will be led by experienced facilitators with knowledge of the region and its people. Working with local partners and projects, the tour has been carefully designed by Wild Asia to give participants an opportunity to learn more about palm oil production and the region where palm oil is produced. A key feature of all our study tours is the opportunity to get an insight into our efforts to organise and support small producers to meet RSPO certification standards. The study tour is designed for anyone who is part of the palm oil value chain - from the end-product manufacturer and ingredient manufacturers to palm oil processors and sustainable palm oil supporters.

Wild Asia supports small producers in becoming RSPO certified and we are keen to connect buyers or users of palm oil to RSPO-certified small producers. Learn more from our team about how we can help connect you to our smallholders in Malaysia, or establish connections for our partners in Indonesia, Thailand and other countries.

Register Today for the 3 Days/2 Nights Study Tour. Limited places are available (only 15 lucky ones!).

The Programme: A glimpse of Southern Thailand, one of the main regions of palm oil production. This study tour will give participants insights of smallholders and progress towards sustainable production.

The Cost: The Three Day / Two Nights (3D/2N) study tour commences from Surat Thani airport and ends at the Krabi. The cost is Euro 908 (including admin charges). The cost is inclusive of all local transfers, accommodation and meals, local guide and activity fees.

Wild Asia was first established in 2003 as a Malaysian-based social enterprise. We work to help adapt the way consumers, businesses and traders operate, ensuring that they can leave a positive footprint on the developing world. We take a bottom-up approach starting at the very beginning: the raw materials. It is here that we find ways to guide organisations in creating a better environment for their employees, local communities and surrounding biodiversity. By working within key sectors – such as the palm oil or tourism industry – we have gained a unique insight on how producers, buyers and consumers can develop innovative ways to promote positive change.

Mission

Wild Asia’s mission is to inspire change from within the private-sector, through partnerships with businesses, to support initiatives that shape a better future for our environment, biodiversity, and people.

WILD ASIA works with businesses, in regions of high biodiversity, developing solutions that align their management to sustainable environmental and social practices. Through our different programs, Wild Asia is also able to support less-advantaged communities, by engaging them to design solutions that fulfill their basic needs and livelihood, in an affordable and sustainable way.

We use our knowledge to advise, train and innovate new approaches to support this mission.

Wild Asia has built up a wide experience in dealing with the complexities and challenges of promoting sustainability in the region, and has expertise in the forestry, tourism and agriculture sectors.
