Organizer of Sustainable Development Approaches in Engineering Research & Education

The International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO is creating creating a unique global network for Engineers, mainly in the fields of mining, mineral raw materials, sustainable supply of raw materials, material sciences, and recycling.

The Mission of this UNESCO Categoy 2 Centre, with its headquarters in St. Petersburg, is to promote the principles of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and international level in the field of mineral resources and to create the conditions for further training of qualified specialists and scientific personnel in mining.

Sustainable development is the “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Our role we play in this is to educate today's engineers for a sustainable tomorrow.

As the AUSTRIAN BRANCH we are, among other things, promoting global mobility of students and staff by creating joint study programmes, financial support for the particpation in international conferences, organising international internships & staff weeks, building an international network for joint research actvities, as well as offering educational programmes and life long learning opportunities.
