Utown@UBCTour Description

Tour Host: Catherine Park

The University of British Columbia was originally designed in 1914 as a traditional commuter campus. This tour looks at UTown@UBC's paradigm shift with the building of a university community in which living, working and learning can flourish in an integrated, sustainable environment (without having to leave campus). Wesbrook Place is UTown@UBC’s newest addition to this vision.

Join us on a casual walking tour through this new neighbourhood development with stops along the way demonstrating how a mix of housing options, improved public transportation, a thoughtful approach to stormwater management, shops and services, and access to cultural/recreational amenities are helping change a traditional commuter campus into a complete community where members can live, work and learn on-site.

Tour Host Bio

Catherine Park is a student at UBC with a passion for showing off her campus neighbourhood and all the great things it has to offer.

Special Instructions

This tour is wheelchair accessible.

Jane's Walk

Jane's Walk is held simultaneously in cities across Canada and other countries around the world. Inspired by Jane Jacob's and her belief that in order to know your city "you have to get out and walk," Jane's Walk is a simple idea. It is free, it connects people and builds communities by promoting urban literacy and citizen engagement.
