Event description

Description

Join the City of Cleveland Mayor's Office of Sustainability for the last Sustainable Cleveland quarterly meeting of 2018. This Meet Up will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in University Circle on Thursday, December 13th from 5:30-8:00pm.

MOCA has very generously invited our guests to tour the Alexis Rockman: Great Lakes Cycle exhibition** during the Meet Up.

This event is a great opportunity to network with the sustainability community, learn about new innovations, and to help plan for next year's culmination of Sustainable Cleveland 2019 and the 50th anniversary of the infamous Cuyahoga River burning.

The Meet Up is FREE and open to anyone interested in sustainability in Cleveland.

There will be a cash bar as well as complimentary light snacks.

Direct any questions to Cathi Lehn (216-664-2421 -or- clehn@city.cleveland.oh.us).

Hope you can join us for a toast to 2018 and look forward to more sustainability progress in 2019!

**Rockman, an acclaimed painter and environmental activist, who creates ecologically-focused works that seduce and provoke with equal verve. Blending extensive research, diverse techniques, and site-specific materials like sand or soil, Rockman’s paintings document history while also imagining future environments. The exhibition includes five new, mural-sized paintings; a constellation of flora and fauna “field drawings”; and a suite of watercolors that all portray the evolution of the Great Lakes—which are among the world’s most beautiful, economically significant, and ecologically complex regions on the planet. Rockman’s new series celebrates the natural majesty and global importance of the Great Lakes while exploring how they are threatened by factors such as climate change, globalization, invasive species, mass agriculture, and urban sprawl.

Sustainable Cleveland 2019 is Mayor Frank Jackson's 10-year initiative that engages everyone to design and develop a thriving and resilient Cleveland region that leverages its wealth of assets to build economic, social and environmental well-being for all.
