Imagine A World... Without Plastic
Guest speaker - Dr Geoff Brighty, technical director at Plastic Oceans UK.
You carry a reusable water bottle, you’ve switched to a green energy supplier and you’re eating less meat. What next? It’s easy to feel frustrated about the pace of change and unsure of how to do more. Our events are all about bringing people together to create collective action and big change. We believe that we can create a positive and exciting future that respects and cares for our planet and its biodiversity.
In our interactive workshops we'll begin by thinking big and imagining what a better future might look like. By allowing ourselves to break away from the status quo, we can allow ourselves to think more creatively. We'll then us this utopian vision to work out what we can do now individually and together to create realistic change. You can expect to meet like-minded people, feel a part of something bigger than yourself and finish the evening with clear next steps.
In our second 'Imagine a World...' event we'll be tackling the subject of plastic. Only in the last 60 years or so have we been using plastic in our daily lives. What would the world be like if there was no more plastic or if it had never been invented? Where would we miss it? How could we change the way that we do things so that it was no longer necessary or only used sensibly? We'll then use this discussion to explore how we could reduce our use of plastic now not just as individuals, but in a more systemic or collective way that can make a significant difference to the plastic pollution crisis.
Who is it for?
Anyone with a personal or professional interest in sustainability who wants to take positive action to bring about change. You don’t need to be an expert, just engaged in the conversation and wanting to make a bigger contribution.
Drink and nibbles will be provided.
