Event description

Description

This weekend event at HEART Village is a great opportunity for you to acquire foundational skills and techniques for wilderness survival. You will gain hands-on experience by building your own physical primitive shelter. You also learn the importance of other survival needs such as locating and purifying water, creating fire and finding food.

Shelter - EXPLORE the HEART woodland trails, DISCOVER what to gather and BUILD it with design help from Stephen Kane.

Water - SCOUT for and LEARN how to procure water. MAKE it safe to drink and CONSTRUCT a container to boil water.

Fire - CHALLENGE yourself to build a fire without a lighter or matches.

Food - ENGAGE all of your senses when you learn how to navigate, FIND edible roots and greens and HUNT in the wilderness using small traps.

Your instructor for the SURVIVAL weekend will be Stephen Kane. Stephen has completed the standard course at Tom Browns Jr's Tracker School and taught at the Red Hawk Outdoor School in upstate New York.

Friday, March 8 - Arrival time is between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Programming begins at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, March 10 - Departure time is between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
