We are pleased to invite you to attend the side event on" Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption: methodological transfer from international experiences to national level" jointly by United States Agency for International Development, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, World Health Organization South East Asia Regional Office and International Health Policy Program (IHPP), Ministry of Public Health, Thailand at the 2018 Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) on Monday, 29 January 2018, 09.00-17.30 hrs. in Lotus Suite 10, 22nd Floor, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld.

The objectives of this side event are to share different methods used by countries for monitoring antibiotic consumption in human and animals, to share experiences on how Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption has been established and used for policy making and to discuss how to move towards to a “One Health” approach for an integrated surveillance systems and reports of Antimicrobial Consumption and Resistance Analysis in human/ animal/ food/ agriculture and environment sectors as well as the applicability of experiences of developed countries to developing countries context also next steps in developing the SAC in member countries.

This side event will feature four sessions, with a short coffee break in between:

  • Keynote speaker on Global updates on AMR and AMU (9:10 - 9:20 hrs.)
  • Session 1 (9:20 - 10:15 hrs.): Panel discussion and Q&A session on the Global level methodological update on development of SAC in responses to GAP AMR
  • Coffee break (10:15 - 10:30 hrs.)
  • Session 2 (10:30 - 12:00 hrs.): Panel discussion and Q&A session on a learning from country experiences on Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption policy development
  • Lunch (12:00 - 13:00 hrs.)
  • Session 3 (13:00-15:00 hrs.): Group works and presentation
  • Coffee break (15:00 - 15:15 hrs.)
  • Session 4 (15:15 - 16:00 hrs.): What’s next? In term of potential collaboration across countries, supports from WHO/FAO/OIE and partnership and networking
