Description

Promoting communication through play - This webinar promotes recognition and understanding of play as a child’s way of exploring, learning, and developing connections to their community, and what we see in practice during play of children on the autism spectrum. It also provides practical strategies to promote play development in the early years, and to ultimately increase a child’s ability to communicate effectively with others.

Supporting children to learn a variety of play skills assists them to become stronger communicators and to develop strong social connections. This webinar provides information to help educators understand why children on the autism spectrum experience difficulties in developing a range of play skills.

The link between play skills and communication development in the early years is explored. Practical strategies are discussed in relation to supporting children on the autism spectrum in addition to building teaching practices for educators around play and communication, and adapting the environment to promote play.
