A two-hour workshop about the mental health comorbidities that affect people with diabetes, screening and assessment tools, and referrals.

About this event

Description: In this workshop, attendees will learn about depression, anxiety, diabetes distress, and other mental health comorbities that affect people with diabetes. Attendees will learn how to screen for and assess psychosocial challenges, and how to support evidence-based program participant mental health through appropriate self-help techniques and referrals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the role mental health plays in a person’s ability to manage their chronic disease(s).
  • Apply standardized tools to assess for depression and anxiety.
  • Identify self-help techniques to support mental health in a person with diabetes.
  • List possible behavioral health referral resources.
