Support the Troops Hackathon
Friday, December 14, 2012 at 6:30 PM - Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 6:30 PM (PST)
We have created the "Support the Troops Hackathon" for three reasons.
1.) Get the burgoening NY Tech community creating applications to help support military personnel who put their life on the line defending our nation.
2.) Show developers that military personnel are a highly concentrated, adoptive, tech savvy group that is easily reachable and a perfect group on which to rapidly test and deploy web applications.
3.) Raise awareness of the organizations in the New York area that are currently working to support veterans and active/reserve military personnel.
How to get invovled:
1.) Sign up on the eventbrite. We are charging $5 because in our experience, if you pay a couple bucks you are more likely to show up. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project who is helping secure prizes and food for this hackathon.
2.) If you have an idea for an app that supports the troops, go to the google spreadsheet and enter your idea.(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqOAbFShj0XpdHBVZ3VpNXFYQ3AwczZRcW1FcGs1dkE)
3.) If you don't have an idea, but want to join a team go to the google doc and enter your name under one of the team member slots. Be careful to look at Column E to see how many team members the captain wants on their team. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqOAbFShj0XpdHBVZ3VpNXFYQ3AwczZRcW1FcGs1dkE)
If you have any questions, email the organizer and we will get back to you right away.
Food will be provided. We are in the midst of talking with sponsors and will list the prizes when they are locked up.
We look forward to seeing you at the Event!
