This ongoing program is for Administrative Assistants to the Head of School or Division Head.

About this Event

This program includes five sessions that will take place online via Zoom.

The position of Administrative Assistant to the Head of School or Division Head is a unique, complicated, and demanding one, requiring a high degree of professionalism as well as a complex combination of exceptional interpersonal skills, technology know-how, and the ability to manage and track several projects and events simultaneously.

Because this administrative support position requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality, those in it can feel particularly isolated from others in the school. This program offers a small, confidential and welcoming environment designed to foster connections, learning, support and dialogue with peers who share similar experiences and challenges. We will pay close attention to the new demands on our positions as we navigate the shifts in duties in response to COVID, including supporting facilities and emerging technology with staff working at home, at school and hybrids of each. There will be time for connecting with new colleagues across the state, as well as opportunities for participants to share regionally.

Along with guest speakers and readings, there will also be time to problem solve, share know-how and resources, request practical feedback or suggestions, or just simply laugh about our jobs. This year's series will consist of three 2-hour workshops, with two additional 1-hour sessions throughout the year. Each 2-hour session will focus on a different theme and include a guest speaker. The one-hour meetings are a time to connect and problem solve as challenges arise, as well as to check-in about integrating learning from didactic sessions.

Our first meeting will allow time to reacquaint or get to know one another. Prior to meeting, facilitators will survey participants about areas of interest for the group, in order to tailor the year to the needs and interests of the current participants. Topics may include the art of feedback, time management, self-advocacy and self-care.

The group will meet virtually, three times from 10:00-12:00, and twice for an hour, 11:00-12:00.

This workshop series will be held online via Zoom and may be recorded for CATDC's archives. By registering for this event you are consenting to be recorded and photographed by CATDC.

Registration may be transferred to a different person up to 7 days before a session. However refunds will not be given, and a session missed for any reason will not be refunded.
