A discussion of four elements of Supplier Management and how these can be used with any supply chain organization. Participants will gain insight into assessing their suppliers, understanding the maturity level of your supply chain organization and provide tools to categorize vendors, improve supplier performance and relationships and reduce risk to your company.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Understanding the four essential elements and processes of Supplier Management
- Understand why Supplier Categorization / Segmentation is fundamental
- Assess the maturity of your own supply chain organization, and learn what can be done to increase the skills and expertise of your organization
- Match tools, processes and strategies within your current organization to improve supplier performance, and reduce risk, then expand / improve as your organization matures

WORKING OUTLINE:

1. Supplier Categorization / Segmentation
a. Why all suppliers are not equal.
b. How you identify which suppliers are critical to your business, and how to work with them more effectively.

2. Supply Chain Organization Maturity
a. Is your organization ready and able to take a seat at the executive table?
b. Are you able to influence and contribute to your organizations bottom line results consistently and be recognized for those contributions?

3. Four Elements of Supplier Management
a. Basic skills needed in a Purchasing organization.
b. Supplier Performance – key metrics you should be using to monitor/assess suppliers.
c. Supplier Relationship Management – Why this is important, and how you can improve results from suppliers without subsequent negative repercussions.
d. Supplier Risk Management – How to identify, avoid, and mitigate risks from your supply base.

4. Learn how to put all these pieces together to develop and implement resources, plans and strategies to improve your supply chain organization, improve supplier performance and maintain positive relationships, derive more value from your supply base to increase your organization’s contributions to your company’s goals and objectives.

Jane is a Supply Chain professional with experience across Supply Chain Management: Planning, Procurement, Logistics and Order Fulfillment. Her experience crosses a variety of industries including Defense/Aerospace, Commercial Manufacturing and Technology with General Dynamics, HP, ITT / Exelis and Haas Automation before founding Supply Chain Innovations, Inc.; Jane earned degrees in Industrial Engineering (University of Missouri), MBA (San Diego State) and holds CPSM and Green Belt certifications.

 

Kathy Kristovich, CPSM & MS - Procurement & Contracts Management

Kathy is a Global Procurement Process Program Manager at Agilent Technologies. She leads the development and roll-out of standards and training worldwide. Kathy has held positions covering compliance, organizational development, management and training of procurement processes including supplier performance measurement, relationship management, and strategy development. Prior to Agilent, Kathy worked at Hewlett-Packard starting the Procurement Education Department implementing worldwide programs for skill assessment, recruiting and training. Kathy also held various other procurement positions dealing with process improvement, training and benchmarking. Kathy has a MS in Procurement & Contract Management from Golden Gate University, a BS from Arizona State University and holds a CPSM.
