Healthcare Workforce Development

"Partnerships, Policies and Pipeline"

According to some estimates, there will be a national shortage of up to 200,000 physicians and 1 million nurses by 2020. There are numerous organizations around L.A. County educating, training, and employing our health care workforce. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and The Achievable Foundation (a community health center focusing on individuals with developmental disabilities) are hosting a legislative breakfast at West L.A. College on Friday, October 12th. This event will focus on innovative healthcare workforce partnerships, policies that can help address this looming shortage, and how these two can improve the workforce pipeline.

The event, presented by L.A. Care, as well as the Hospital Association of Southern California, Community Clinic Associaton of Los Angeles County and the L.A. Chamber of Commerce will bring together major stakeholders from higher education, workforce development agencies, public official's offices, community health centers, hospitals and others.
