First Aid in Sport - 9:30- 12:30

An enjoyable and practical course which explores the role of the first Aider, how to assess an incident and how to deal with common injuries such as sprains and strains as well as what to do in the event of something more serious occurring.

The workshop is tailored to meet the needs of the group but some areas covered will include:

  • Responsibilities and Reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Basic Hygiene and First Aid
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Action at an Emergency
  • Principles of Resuscitation
  • Heart Attacks
  • Bleeding Control
  • Breathing and Circulation
  • Airway Obstruction
  • Disorders of Circulation
  • Minor Injuries
  • Angina
  • Choking
  • Shock and Seizures

Outcomes

To have the basic knowledge and practical skills to deal with First Aid requirements of colleagues and other people in the workplace/club environment. The minimum age to attend this course is 16 years of age and the qualification is valid for 3 years.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance from NUCO at the end of the workshop.

If you a working towards a coaching qualification please consult with your National Governing Body of Sport to ensure this workshop is suitable.


Safegaurding and Protecting Children - 13:00 pm - 16:00pm

Aimed at UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaches. Essential for all coaches and volunteers at your club who have regular contact with children and young people. The workshop is a Minimum Operating Standard requirement for many governing bodies of sport, it can be delivered to all those responsible for organising children's sport (e.g. within governing bodies of sport, local authorities, sports and leisure centres, sports clubs) and those who lead or deliver children's sport programmes (e.g. coaches, leaders, instructors, development officials, administrators, volunteers, parents).

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for them

• Explore their values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise how these may potentially impact on their response

• Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of child abuse and poor practice

• Take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.
