Inflammation is the #1 cause of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and some studies are showing Alzheimer’s disease. Arthritis, bronchitis, and colitis are also linked to inflammation. Are the risk for you developing an inflammatory disease hiding in your kitchen?

What is inflammation? According to WebMd, inflammation occurs when chemicals from the body's white blood cells are released into the blood or affected tissues to protect your body from foreign substances. In short, inflammation is the body’s way of protecting and healing itself. However, when inflammation becomes persistent it can cause chronic diseases. Studies have found that certain foods can cause painful inflammation.

In the second part of a four point series Weight XChange Health and Wellness Coaching will share scientific studies on foods that can reduce inflammation. On Saturday, June 23, Series Two will focus on how fruits that can contribute to the reduction of inflammation. Specifically, we will discuss the blueberries and pineapple, its chemical properties, and taste three flavorful dishes. Participants will leave with recipes and tips on how to combat inflammation.
