Join us for the Chicago premiere screening of Sunflower! There will be a Q&A with the director/writer and cast following the screening.

About this event

Sunflower is story about a young girl who struggles with seeing the beauty of her dark brown skin complexion and the journey she goes on to love herself.

Written and directed by Elizabeth T. Tawose, Sunflower is a drama about loving and embracing yourself fully while showcasing the beauty and needed appreciation for women with deeper melanated skin tones. Not only is the discussion of self confidence within the female black community imperative, but the recognition of colorism inside and outside of the community is as well.

Join the cast & crew on August 19th for a night of film, food, drinks, and libations as we celebrate the making of Sunflower. Proceeding the screening there will be a Q&A with the director & writer Elizabeth T. Tawose and Salimat Solebo who plays Amari in the film, followed by drinks.
