Volunteers for the Weekend Meal Outreach Program
The Des Moines Pride Center is coordinating the Volunteer Schedule for weekend meal support at the Iowa Homeless Youth Center located at 612 Locust Street, Des Moines, IA.
IHYC Youth Opportunity Center is dedicated to exclusively serving the needs of at-risk and homeless youth (age 16-22), the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) provides a safe place for young people to connect with services. Our staff is committed to meeting youth where they are in life, and assisting them in taking the first steps to self-sufficiency and a successful future. Our programs focus on helping youth set and achieve goals in five key areas: education, employment, safe housing, life skills and positive community engagement.
Register today to provide a meal for up to 15 youths in need.
Team Service: Groups of up to 8 people can help as a Team for 2.5 hours. Each Team will assist the YSS Staff, prep and serve lunch or dinner.
Team Service Times:
Lunch 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Dinner 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Lunch or Dinner Hour Only: You can prepare a meal at home and bring it or prepare a meal in the IHYC commercial kitchen facility.
Drop Off Service: If you are unable to serve, you can sponsor a meal by dropping off self serve meal options.
