Event description

Description

Join us for our FINAL volunteer trail work day on the newly constructed West Bluff Trail in Government Hill.

Dena'ina Placename: Dgheyaytnu means 'Stickleback Creek," referring to Ship Creek, original Anchorage townsite. Source: http://qenaga.org/placenames.html, Dena'ina Topical Dictionary by James Kari, and Dena'ina Placenames list, compiled by James Kari (1994).

The focus of this event will be cutting the Suzan Nightingale approach, completing the fine-tuning and maintenance tasks that every newly constructed trail needs (removing slough, lopping roots, rehabbing areas impacted by construction, adding natural surface drainage structures), and woodchipping cut alder.

Please plan to arrive either by 9 am or 12:30 pm so that you can participate in the required safety briefing!

Schedule:

9:00 am: Safety briefing

9:30 am - 12:00 noon: Work

12:00 noon - 12:30: Lunch

12:30 - 1:00 pm Second safety briefing for late comers.

1:00 - 4:00 pm: Work

4:00 - 5:00 pm: Celebratory BBQ!
