Event description

Description

Three Sundays in September our hosts will open an architecturally significant home with acclaimed artist to celebrate art, music, and literature. Each event will be uniquely styled with drinks, food and a heaping helping of up close encounters with the arts.
Attendance will be kept to small numbers to ensure a memorable experience. All salons are from 2:30 pm—5:30 pm. Tickets are $80.00 per event, or you can purchase a pass to all three for $180.00.

This Victorian jewel of a house is offering a signature urban garden, an amazing contemporary art collection and a bountiful array of food and drinks. Kentucky Poet, Mary Ann Taylor-Hall will be reading from her new book Out of Nowhere: New and Selected Poems. Some of her other works are Dividing Ridge and Joy Dogs.

Presenting an old hippie house afternoon with musical guest Nick Stump, a reading by renowned author Ed McClanahan and the art of Rodney Hatfield aka Art Snake. Known by his hippie moniker Captain Kentucky, McClanahan was one of author Ken Kesey's band of "merry pranksters." Their psychedelic drug-induced shenanigans were chronicled by Tom Wolfe in his landmark "new journalism" story, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test....Ed never looked back and never stopped writing.

PictureThis one-of-a-kind 1800's Italianate Villa is on the National Historic Register. John McCurry was the architect, also to his credit is The Thomas January House and Cassius Clay's Whitehall.
Troy will be featuring selections from his collection of naïve, primitive and folk art. Entertainment provided by The ActOut Theatre Group. Presenting select vignettes from their 2016 performance of Standing on Ceremony-The Gay Marriage Play.
