Event description

Description

The influence of true artistic genius extends beyond geographical, cultural and historical boundaries. Discover the profound impact of music by Johannes Brahms on Hungarian, Austrian, Danish and Czech composers in three "Brahms Beyond Borders" Summermusic 2019 programs juxtaposing his compositions with works by Antonín Dvořák, Carl Goldmark, Niels Gade and Ernő Dohnányi. “Brahms Beyond Borders” explores the world of late 19thcentury Romanticism with its passionate yet richly nuanced music, full of lyricism and vigor with deep roots in Central European folk song and dance.

Final Summermusic concert will feature violinists Peter Sirotin and Leonid Ferents, violists Blanka Bednarz and Michael Stepniak, as well as cellists Cheung Chau and Fiona Thompson performing youthful and robust Niels Gade: String Sextet in E-flat Major, Op. 44 and Ernő Dohnányi: String Sextet in B-flat Major.
