Summer Writing Marathon (NYCWP)
Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The New York City Writing Project invites you to join us for a morning of looking, writing, and sharing at our Summer Writing Marathon through Inwood Hill Park. Situated on a high schist ridge that rises 200 feet above the Hudson River, Inwood Hill Park is a densely folded, glacially scoured topography that provides incredible views. Join the NYCWP as we use the park’s natural beauty and rich history as inspiration for poetry and prose. Then, gather with colleagues to share your writing and learn about publication opportunities in the NYCWP community.
This event overlaps with Drums Along the Hudson, a Native American and Multicultural Festival that will go on until 6:00pm. Participants are encouraged to make a day of it by bringing a picnic lunch and attending the pow-wow after the Writing Marathon has concluded.
Our Writing Marathons derive from those developed by Richard Louth of the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project as adapted from Natalie Goldberg’s ideas in Writing Down the Bones.
