Advancing K-16 Education that Cultivates Local and Global Awareness

About this event

The Preparing Glocally Competent Teachers research team from Providence College and the University of Rhode Island is hosting a summer professional development summit to gather educators interested in reflecting on global learning practices and exploring the assets of glocality in K-16 education.

On July 20th, the Summer Summit will host Prof. Elizabeth Crawford from University of North Carolina Wilmington, who will facilitate a workshop on Co-Creating Networks for Change: Revisioning Community Engagement and Problem-Solving through Human-Centered Practices.

On July 21st, there will be opportunities for educators to share ideas and collaborate on glocal projects and a panel discussion on the theme of Communication as Teaching across Rhode Island with featured panelists Omar Bah, Founder of Refugee Dream Center, Alex DECiccio, Specialist, ISC/Media & Production, Inner Space Center, University of Rhode Island and Laura Boynton Hauerwas, Professor, Elementary & Special Education, Providence College.

The Summer Summit will conclude on July 21st with a Closing Session where participants will be invited to envision Building a Glocal Coalition in RI.

This event is supported by a Longview Foundation grant. It is free to attend.
