Summer Solstice Retreat

Take the time out of your busy schedule to relax, refresh, and renew. Celebrate Summer Solstice with movement, meditation, and creative expression.

The retreat will include:

  • Meditation

  • Restorative Yoga for all levels

  • A delicious, healthy, seasonal, vegetarian lunch and food ritual prepared and led by Jodi Balis of Red Lentil Consulting

  • Art and Creative Expression Activity

  • Wellness tips and Intentions for the season


Lunch will be provided. All art supplies, meditation, and yoga props will be provided.


Please dress in comfy clothing/layers, bring a journal, and water bottle.

All backgrounds and genders welcome.

Where will the event be held?

The will take place at The Center for Mindful Living which is a facility of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW), a vibrant community offering classes and projects throughout the metropolitan Washington region. The event is on the second floor.

PleaseNote: The facility is up one flight of stairs and there is no elevator and may not be accessible for those with mobility impairments.

Where can I find directions? What are the transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The center is located few blocks north of the Tenleytown-AU metro and there is also ample metered street parking. and there is limited neighborhood Zone 2 (free 2-hour) parking as well. For more information visit: https://living-mindfully.org/location

Learn more about our special guest Jodi Balis:

Jodi Balis is a food intuitive and ritualist, personal chef and registered dietitian. As a ritualist, she co-creates food rituals that help to mark, support and integrate important life moments and transitions. Through her work as a personal chef, Jodi supports women throughout the prenatal, postpartum and perimenopausal stages of life by providing wellness coaching and nourishing food, and also creates offerings that combine food, health and wellness, and Jewish inspired earth-based practices. Jodi loves to teach meal planning and cooking as a creative and technical endeavor, and deeply trusts in the wisdom that can be found in preparing food, in eating mindfully and in the connections that can be made through the sharing of a meal.
