Description

Summer Programs II: The Perfect Opportunity to Strengthen Youth Literacy

Prevent “summer slide” using engaging literacy strategies where time is often more abundant and flexible than during the school year. Keeping kids reading, writing and thinking during these months has been shown to reduce or eliminate loss of skills and their educational stance. A wide variety of activities designed to engage and help youth practice their skills will be presented including summer projects, book clubs, Reader’s Theater, independent reading challenge, word games, note-booking, journalism skills, writing for specific audiences, and more. Leave with materials and ideas to make your summer program authentic, fun, and slide-proof.
