Event description

Description

Directing (July 8-12)

Students in this camp will learn the basics of directing a play, from the ground up and put their lessons to use this week, including putting together a vision, how to communicate with a production team and what the roles of each position within a theatre include. In groups of two, students will direct one piece, act in one piece, and provide feedback for at least one piece. Learn from a director with 10 years’ experience!

9a-3p Mon-Thur, 9a-12p Friday

Hammie: Shakespeare's Hamlet in Twenty-Five Hilarious Minutes (July 15-19)

Hammie is a one-act gut-splitting version of the famous tragedy, modernized and minimalistic, with the addition of video games, corporate coffee, pop culture references, and a splash of cross-dressing. Foam swords and absurdity abound in this half-hour romp.

Students will put together this production from auditions to performance in just one week, including costumes, sets, props, lights, and sound. A great introduction to theatre and to the Bard! Even meet the playwright and discuss how the play came to be!

10a-3p Mon-Thur, 10a-12p Friday
