About this event

  • 63 days 1 hour
  • Mobile eTicket

Each season has its challenges and summer is no exception. Longer, warmer days can be lovely in many ways but challenging in others. We are offering this particular container, during this particular time of year, with this particular book because when community support, challenging material, and new perspectives are present; breakthroughs happen.

Sign up for this summer’s book club reading, The Body is Not an Apology: the Power of Radical Self-love by Sonya Renee Taylor.

IN THIS BOOK CLUB, WE WILL:

  • explore both systemic and personal pressures that have held us back from not only accepting our bodies but fully and unapologetically embracing them.
  • gain insight into the origins of our beliefs about our bodies and strength from one another to morph these into something new.
  • practice truth-telling and transformational witnessing, both for yourself and for others.

THE DETAILS:

  • 10 weeks from June 7th - August 9th
  • Wednesday nights at 6:00pm
  • 75 minute gatherings
  • Capping at 20 participants to foster community
  • Each week will focus on 3 sections at a time
  • Participants will receive a Book Club Companion with grounding tools
  • Please note: this group is for individuals who are 20 years and older

DEADLING TO SIGN UP IS FRIDAY, JUNE 2ND!

THE FACILITATORS

Mimosa Collins (she/her) is a licensed dietitian and Nikki Buckley (she/her) is a licensed therapist. They have supported individuals and groups to move through various themes of body acceptance and healing for over a decade. They hold different privileged and oppressed identities and recognize the blindspots their privilege lends. Mimosa and Nikki are committed to honoring your lived experience and practice an ethic of compassion, first and foremost. While Mimosa and Nikki have private practices where they support individual clients, this is not therapy nor should it be a substitute for individual counseling.

We look forward to supporting the breakthroughs awaiting you this summer!
