ProjectCREATE: Committed to Community
Join us for a week of fun, engaging, hands-on learning as we innovate together.
Students have the option of attending a morning session from 9 a.m. - noon or an afternoon session from 1 - 4 p.m. We are also offering a full day option from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m (NOTE - the full day session is only available for children entering grades 4-7).
Committed to Community
What makes a community? Is it the buildings? The utilities? The people? The parks? The answer is all these things, and more! Join us this summer as we dive into the concept of community. We will examine the diverse ingredients that communities must have in order to work, including art and culture, infrastructure, community service and social issues, public spaces, and shared experiences as we design community models of our own. We will also explore Lawrence to find out what makes this amazing city a great place to live for people from all kinds of backgrounds and what we can do to make life here even better. In addition to these and a lot of other fun activities, we will learn about how a city operates through a daily Town Hall meeting.
Please note that when registering, the student listed is applying for an academic program called ProjectCREATE designed for high achieving (~90%ile or higher on district assessments) and/or highly creative students. He/she will participate in an intensive, fast-paced educational experience requiring self-discipline, academic focus, and motivation. Social and peer group interactions during the program serve an important purpose and constitute a learning experience of their own. To help us learn more about your child, there will be a place for parent input on the registration form.
