Event description

Description

In recognition of World Bipolar Day Seacoast Mental Health Center will be offering a free screening of Suicide: The Ripple Effect. The film is the story of Kevin Hines who at 19, two years after being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. He is one of 36 to live and the only one actively telling his story of Surviving and Thriving. The film shares Kevin’s journey and the ripple effect it has had on others who have been impacted by his attempt to take his life. In his role as a suicide prevention and mental health advocate Kevin has inspired people around the world. Kevin Hines was the keynote speaker for our 2016 Cogswell Conference and we are now pleased to share his film.

Following the film, there will be a discussion with a panel of community members impacted by suicide.

Please join us on March 28, 2019 in the Portsmouth High School Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30pm with refreshments in the lobby. The film will begin at 6:00pm followed by a panel discussion.

Consider these facts:

  • Nationally suicide rates are the highest among adults ages 45- 54
  • In NH suicide is the second leading cause of death of youth ages 10-14
