  • Learn statistics for suicide in the USA
  • Learn warning signs of suicide
  • Learn interventions for suicide prevention
  • Understand Suicide Risk Assessments
  • Understand Suicide Prevention Safety plans


Sign-in will begin at 8 am. 

This event is free and open to the public and is approved for 2.0 CEUs by the University of Memphis' School of Social Work. The University of Memphis is an accredited institution of higher education; the School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

What are my parking options for the event?

Parking for this event is NOT providedVisitors will need to pay for their own parking while on campus at the University of Memphis. Space in the Zach Curlin parking garage is first-come, first-served, and is based on a $3 per-hour rate. Metered parking spaces are $2 per hour. Whole day visitor parking passes for general lots ($3 per day) may be obtained by visiting Parking Services the day of the event. Campus map: https://umwa.memphis.edu/campusmap/index.php. The Zach Curlin parking garage is labeled PG2 (located I-11 on the map). The University Center is labeled UC (located G-11 on the map).

 

What can I bring into the event?

We will not be serving refreshments. Coffee can be purchased on campus in either the campus bookstore (Starbucks) or within the UC (Dunkin Donuts). It is suggested that you also bring a notepad/padfolio and a pen to take notes.

 

Are the CEUs approved by NASW?

Because the University of Memphis is an accredited institution of higher education, and the School of Social Work is also accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), we are approved to provide CEUs without the need for going through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Please consult your state's licensing board for your CEU requirements.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. You may bring either your printed ticket or show your registration confirmation/ticket on your smartphone upon sign-in.

 

I'm a student, receiving extra credit and/or field internship hours for attending. How will I verify my attendance?

All attendees will receive a certificate of completion upon handing in their evaluation after the event has concluded. Students will have a separate sign-in sheet, which will be scanned and emailed to their instructors for attendance verification.

 

Registration is closed/full-- can I register on-site as a walk-in?

Online registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have limited seats available. Waitlist and/or on-site registration is not guaranteed.
